To function properly, this type composting bin needs to be filled all at once, adding material a little at a time is not a good option. The materials need the bulk of a whole load to heat and aid in the process the decaying.
Manufacturers stated time of producing a finished product is under optimum situation and your results may be some what longer. These bins do require effort in turning but whether it is any more difficult than manually turning a ground based compost pile is questionable.
